A recommended destination for the whole family is the Fürstenbrunn Fish Pond and Wildlife Park in Untertauern (coordinates 47.300597899121335, 13.505547171492298). It's about a 25-minute drive from the David Apartments & David Suites.

It's also an ideal stopover if you're traveling to the David Houses via the Tauern Pass.

The Fürstenbrunn fish pond in the Untertauern Wildlife & Leisure Park is a family-friendly facility that is also suitable for beginners. (Please note the opening hours and the operator's rules!)

• Fish species: Brown trout, char, rainbow trout, salmon trout, and carp.

Special feature: You can have your catch prepared at the fisherman's hut or take it home.

• Wildlife park: You can observe native wild animals such as red deer, fallow deer, and wallabies in spacious enclosures.

• Petting zoo: An area with miniature donkeys, alpacas, goats, rabbits, and other small animals.

• Playgrounds: There is a large play area with a sand pit, bouncy castle, slides, a Tarzan cable car, and more.

• Hiking and biking trails: The park is a starting point for walks, for example, into the nearby Taurach Gorge, as well as for bike rides on the Taurach Valley Cycle Path.

• A restaurant serving home-style cooking.

The area around the David Appartements & Suiten offers a wide range of fishing opportunities, especially for fly fishing in clear mountain waters. Licenses are available from tourist offices or operators. Observe closed seasons and regulations!

Popular areas and waters:

Mur: This is the most well-known river in the region and offers several fishing spots. Sections near Tamsweg and St. Michael are particularly known for brown trout and grayling.

Longa: This stream in the Weisspriach Valley is a must for fly fishermen and is known for its brown and rainbow trout.

Prebersee: An idyllic mountain lake ideal for catching char and trout.

Thomataler Bach: A scenic stretch of water that is easily accessible.

St. Martin Agricultural Pond: A pond in St. Michael in Lungau that is ideal for relaxed fishing.
