If you would like to try your first turns with the sports equipment in a ski course or snowboard course, the stop-off swing to the "Almhütte" is guaranteed to work right from the start! Take advantage of what the ski schools have to offer and learn one of the most beautiful sports there is. The ski instructors are also happy to help you improve your existing skills even further. The Lungau ski region offers 300 kilometers of pistes in 4 ski areas, all of which can be discovered with just a single ski pass that is valid in Obertauern, at the Aineck-Katschberg adventure mountain, in the Fanningberg family ski area and in your home ski area here in Mauterndorf, at the Großeck-Speiereck cable cars. Carve down the well-groomed slopes, try your hand at freeriding and have fun with your little ones on the practice area!

Winter driving parks
The area around the David Suites and David Apartments is known for its snow reliability, and not just among skiers. Motorsport enthusiasts and racing drivers also know about the quality of the area. The winter driving training courses (including those from BMW, Porsche and Daimler) take place every year in Lungau. Driving on slippery roads and controlling the vehicle in adverse situations is an impossible task for many people. With handling, braking and drifting exercises you learn to give the cold shoulder to winter. The daily training includes practical driving exercises, meals, insurance and theory lessons on winter driving dynamics.
Krampus, Nikolaus, Christ-Childl
The Christmas season is of course also filled with many beautiful moments. Small Advent bazaars and beautiful Advent markets, concerts by music groups and choirs, Christmas workshops and Advent exhibitions underline the magic of the pre-Christmas season and increase the anticipation of the Christ child! Already at the beginning of December, a special custom is observed at the Krampus Runs in the Lungau communities: the dark fellows come out with loud ringing of bells, smoke and rods. Always there Nikolaus, who always brings a little something for the children in his basket.
